Microsoft Office 2024 Now Available to Buy Worldwide

Microsoft Office 2024

Microsoft has officially launched its new standalone version of Microsoft Office 2024, which is now available to buy as of October 1, 2024. This one-time purchase package includes essential productivity tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, making it a convenient option for users who prefer not to subscribe to Microsoft 365.

After a three-year wait since the last standalone version of Office in 2021, Microsoft Office 2024 offers an updated suite for both PC and Mac users. However, it’s important to note that this version does not include access to the latest features found in the Microsoft 365 subscription, such as co-pilot AI functionalities, nor does it unlock new capabilities on mobile apps.

In a blog post, Microsoft explained the reasoning behind this release:
“Microsoft 365 is the best way to access the latest versions of the productivity apps that millions of people use every day to bring their ideas to life and power through tasks. But we know some of our customers still prefer a non-subscription way to access our familiar apps, which is why we’re releasing Office 2024 on October 1 for consumers and small businesses.”

Key Features of Microsoft Office 2024:

  • Standalone Purchase: No subscription needed, ideal for users who want modern desktop apps without recurring payments.
  • Updated Apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote with all features rolled out to Microsoft 365 users over the past years.
  • New Interface: Includes a fluent design update with new color schemes, improved accessibility tools, and support for OpenDocument Format 1.4.
  • PC and Mac Compatibility: Fully installable on both platforms, although mobile app updates remain exclusive to Microsoft 365 subscribers.

Pricing and Availability:

  • Microsoft Office Home 2024: $149.99
  • Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024: $249.99 (includes a commercial-use license)

Both versions are currently available on the Microsoft Store and will soon be available at various online and offline retailers. The Home and Business edition is particularly suited for small business owners who need a license for commercial purposes.

While Microsoft 365 remains the best option for accessing the latest and most advanced features, the release of Microsoft Office 2024 caters to those who prefer a non-subscription model for their productivity software.
