Google has officially begun rolling out the stable version of Android 15 for all Pixel devices, introducing an array of new features and improvements. After its initial launch via the Android Open Source Project, Android 15 was not immediately available for Pixel or other major Android devices. Now, Pixel users can finally experience the latest update firsthand.
The update brings a host of enhancements, focusing on privacy, security, and usability, particularly for foldables and tablets. One of the standout features is the “Private Space” functionality. This allows users to create a hidden area on their device for apps they want to keep private. Apps placed in this space won’t appear in recent apps, notifications, or settings, ensuring extra discretion. Accessing the Private Space requires additional authentication, and users can even hide the existence of the space entirely from the phone’s main interface.
For those using foldables and tablets, Android 15 introduces a more customizable taskbar, letting users pin and unpin it for easier app access. Additionally, users can now set up app pairings—enabling them to launch two apps side-by-side with a single tap.
Security features have also been significantly upgraded. Android 15 includes a Theft Detection Lock, which automatically locks the phone if it senses that it has been stolen. Most Android devices will also benefit from this security tool. Google has introduced a new remote lock feature, allowing users to secure their phones remotely using another Android device, their phone number, and a simple security check.
In addition to the Android 15 rollout, Google is releasing a Pixel feature drop this October, featuring Night Sight for Instagram, enabling users to capture high-quality photos even in low-light settings.
Android 15 promises to enhance privacy, security, and overall user experience, making it a substantial update for Pixel devices and beyond.
